Program Meeting – “Kodakids” – April 20, 2020 – CANCELLED (or Postponed ?)
Due to current health precautions, this program will NOT be held at this time. We will try to reschedule it. Please keep checking back with us via this website.
For many years the WHS, in conjunction with the Walworth Seeley Public Library, held 2 programs each year called “Walworth Memories.” We have a great notebook at the WHS that has the highlights of each of those meetings. Eventually the WSPL decided to no long take part, so the WHS continued alone. Due to declining attendance, the Board decided to discontinue the Walworth Memories program and replace it with a regular “Program Meeting” as most of our program meetings attract 25 or more people. Since the Walworth Memories program had been in April, we chose the 3rd Monday of April (our other program meetings are 3rd Mondays).
The April 20 meeting will be “How the Kodakids Ended Up in the Rochester Area.”
Join us at our April meeting for an informative talk on a little known or often forgotten WWII event. Mary Jo Lanphear, the Town of Brighton Historian will tell us how the Kodakids ended up in the Rochester area. Learn about Kodak’s program to send children of its employees in England to live in the Rochester area during the war. Come and tell us of your memories of this event or come and learn about a particularly Rochester response to a WWII crisis.
