On April 16, the Wayne County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution establishing a Wayne County Bicentennial Committee. Gene Bavis and Larry Ann Evans (Director of the Museum of Wayne County History) were appointed as Co-Chairs. Wayne County was established on April 11, 1823, so 2023 will be a year-long celebration of our local heritage.
We are selling raffle tickets for the hooked rug made and donated to us by Marion Town Historian, Caryn Devlin. The scene is of what most of us know as Larry DeMinck’s Barn (now owed by Adam Craft) on Tummonds Road. The drawing with be at our Fall Open House on October 6. You need not be present to win. Tickets will be sold at ALL Walworth Historical Society events AND at the Walworth Farmers’ Market this summer. OR you can contact Jessie Keymel or Gene Bavis to make arrangements to buy some. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5 or 15 for $10. Proceeds will go to support the mission of the Walworth Historical Society to preserve and present local history.
